About Clear Ear 2 Hear

While I waited to turn 18 to begin my training, I worked in a hosier factory examining tights Monday – Friday, but used my weekends to do voluntary work in the local hospital to help me get ahead, gain valuable early experience and a real insight into the career I was committing to as a State Enrolled Nurse (SEN).

As an SEN, I worked in various areas of mental health for many years until I paused to start my family.

On my return, I completed a year and a half training course to become a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) and worked as a Staff Nurse in Mental Health Nursing. In this new position, I worked in a purpose-built unit for patients with challenging behaviours. This work continued over the years, working in and out of the NHS and private sector, working with people suffering from Huntington Disease and their families, working in a nursing home, managing a care home and continuing to practice as an RMN with local hospitals as required.

After another break from nursing where I lived and travelled in the USA for five years, I came back to East Devon as a rapid response support worker, working in Sidmouth Hospital. As part of a team, we supported people within their own homes, assisting with personal care, med prompts, meal prep and end of life care.

My work in Sidmouth Hospital continued and I moved into a position working with a team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, social workers and community nurses to provide clinical support, identifying patient needs, practicing health and safety and confidentiality throughout.

As you can see, I’m no stranger to developing my skills and learning new healthcare procedures, and knowing the NHS no longer offer the service of ear care, microsuction and water irrigation, I decided to create Clear Ear 2 Hear in order to help local people with hearing and ear problems. I’m excited for this next chapter in my healthcare career and to continue working with local Exmouth residents and beyond.
