Services Include

We specialise in the removal of troublesome earwax that causes blockages, hearing issues and discomfort. We offer two of the best methods of earwax removal available today, assessing the best option for you and your needs, while also offering an at-home service for those who are unable to get to our Exmouth clinic.

Microsuction

Microsuction is a safe, pain-free and highly effective earwax removal technique.

Microsuction uses a binocular microscope which gives a clear view of the ear canal, allowing low-pressure suction to be carried out. It avoids touching the sensitive skin of the ear canal and avoids all contact with the ear drum, significantly reducing risk of infection.

Choosing the right treatment for you will be based on your ear history and also your preference – while we might be the experts, we also believe your opinion matters as long as it is safe to do so.

What to Expect on a Clinic Visit
When you arrive at my Exmouth clinic you will find it warm, comfortable and relaxing. I will talk you through the whole procedure giving you opportunity to take a break if needed, and will provide complete reassurance throughout.

I also use the latest video otoscope technology to show you on screen what is in your ear(s) before and after.
Typical appointments are 30 minutes to allow for a relaxed, stress-free treatment. Appointments can be extended depending on severity of the blockage. Second appointments will be offered free of charge if a follow-up treatment is required to clear all wax.

How to Prepare
Microsuction works best when clients use olive oil ear drops 3x a day for 3 days before the procedure. Hearing aid wearers are recommended to use the preparation overnight. If clients prefer, one ear can be treated each night to retain hearing support.

Warm Water Irrigation

Warm Water Irrigation gently removes wax using a controlled low pressure water jet, angled towards the ear canal wall rather than the actual blockage, so as not to push wax deeper.

An aftercare procedure will follow. It requires earbuds to be used – which we will supply – if you are having any contact with water within the 5 days after it has been carried out. This is to avoid any risk of infection.
It’s not suitable for those have had ear perforation in the past – we will assess you to choose the right treatment for you.

How to Prepare
Preparation for warm water irrigation is much like microsuction. We recommend using olive oil ear drops 3x a day for 3 days before the procedure. Hearing aid wearers are recommended to use the preparation overnight. If clients prefer, one ear can be treated each night to retain hearing support.

This method of earwax removal can be used on patients with a blockage and no history of ear perforation.

At-Home Earwax Removal

If you have trouble finding transport or struggle with mobility then my at-home mobile earwax removal service allows you to benefit from the same professional, caring approach to blocked ears right in the comfort of your home.

All my equipment – for both microsuction and warm water irrigation – is transportable which allows me to offer the same specialist service I provide in my clinic to you in your home.

I’m also fully DBS checked and certified, all of which allows me to offer home visits for those who are unable to travel to the clinic in Exmouth, or simply prefer the comfort and safety of staying at home.

I also work with nursing and residential homes to provide this same service. Please get in touch if you feel your residents would benefit from this service as I’d be more than happy to help.

What to Expect on a Home Visit
On arrival I’ll clearly state who I am and show you my credentials, so you feel safe from the outset before I even set foot into your home. I will only enter on your permission. Once inside, I will talk you through the whole procedure, providing reassurance throughout.

During either the microsuction and warm water irrigation procedure, I will take my time giving you opportunity to take a break if needed.
